AgPro: A Legacy of Community, Service, and Organic Farming

In the heart of Turbotville, PA, lies AgPro Farm & Home, a store that has become a cornerstone of the local community. This family-owned business, managed by Dennis Keener and his son Deron, caters to a wide range of needs, from lawn care and home improvement to gardening and animal feed. What sets AgPro apart is not just the variety of products they offer, but the deep commitment to customer service and community that Dennis and Deron bring to the table.

A Lifetime Connection to AgPro

Dennis Keener's journey with AgPro began over four decades ago. For 42 years, he worked tirelessly delivering products for the previous owners (Clark’s Ag Center), building strong relationships with customers and getting to know their needs. This long connection laid the foundation for his decision to buy AgPro (formally Clark’s Ag Center) in October 2023, alongside his son Deron.

Dennis' passion for agriculture and farming started young. Growing up on a farm and later buying his father's farm, he developed a deep appreciation for the land and the hard work it takes to cultivate it.

His son Deron started his experience in organic farming by spending a summer working on his uncle’s organic farm making compost and discovering the benefits of sustainable practices. He then went on to work several years for a company that manufactures and sells commercial compost equipment. This led him to a job in Phoenix, AZ, managing the waste stream of a 10,000-cow dairy and commercially marketing the resulting compost to organic farmers.

Introducing Fertrell to AgPro

Adding Fertrell products to AgPro was a natural fit for Dennis, who has a long-standing commitment to organic farming and customer service. After seeing a growing demand for Fertrell's high-quality animal feed supplies, fertilizers, and soil amendments, Dennis knew that introducing these products would meet the needs of his customers and enhance the shop's offerings.

"We started selling Fertrell after several customers specifically asked for it," Dennis recalls. "Seeing a need and filling it is what we're all about. Fertrell's reputation for quality and organic practices fits perfectly with our values."

The Heart of AgPro: Customer Service

For Dennis and Deron, the success of AgPro comes down to one thing: great customer service. They believe that forming strong relationships with customers is the key to a successful business. This philosophy is clear in the way they interact with every person who walks through their doors.

"Our customers come to AgPro because we provide excellent service and expertise," says Dennis. "We go above and beyond to ensure they have what they need and feel supported in their projects."

This dedication to customer service has made AgPro a trusted name in the community. Whether it's helping a homeowner choose the right paint for a renovation, advising a gardener on soil amendments, or ensuring farmers have the best feed for their livestock, Dennis and Deron are always ready to help.

Renovating for the Future

The Keener family's commitment to community and service extends beyond the walls of AgPro. Included in the property was the original 3500 sq ft Ag store which sits across the street from AgPro. They are in the process of renovating this space into a conference center and event venue, which will serve as a hub for meetings, events, and gatherings.

This new venture highlights the Keeners' dedication to fostering community connections and supporting local initiatives. The conference center will provide a valuable space for agricultural seminars, community meetings, and social events, further cementing AgPro's role as a community cornerstone.

A Family Tradition of Farming and Community

For Dennis Keener, farming and community are closely linked. Growing up on a farm, he developed a deep respect for the land and a passion for sustainable practices. This background has shaped his approach to running AgPro and serving his customers.

"I love working with our local community and seeing farm operations that I help pass through generation after generation," Dennis shares. "It's incredibly rewarding to be a part of that continuity and to support farmers in their journey."

This sentiment is echoed in the way Dennis and Deron run AgPro. They view their customers not just as customers, but as part of an extended family. This familial approach creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere that sets AgPro apart from larger, impersonal retailers.

The Role of Fertrell in AgPro's Success

Fertrell products have played a significant role in AgPro's success, particularly in meeting the needs of their agricultural customers. The business offers a wide range of Fertrell's animal feed supplies, fertilizers, and soil amendments, which are highly regarded for their quality and effectiveness.

Dennis's background in organic farming has given him a unique perspective on the importance of using high-quality, sustainable products. This expertise allows him to offer valuable advice to customers, ensuring they get the most out of their Fertrell purchases.

Looking Ahead: AgPro's Vision for the Future

As AgPro continues to grow and evolve, Dennis and Deron are committed to maintaining their focus on customer service and community engagement. Their vision for the future includes expanding their product offerings, enhancing their services, and continuing to build strong relationships with their customers.

They're always looking for ways to improve and better serve the community. Whether it's through new products, expanded services, or community initiatives, AgPro aims to be a valuable resource for everyone who walks through their doors.

The upcoming conference center is a prime example of this forward-thinking approach. By creating a space for community events and educational seminars, Dennis and Deron are ensuring that AgPro remains a vibrant, integral part of Turbotville for years to come.
