Planning your Purchase

I think back to my time in Boy Scouts, our leaders constantly stressing the motto, “Be Prepared”.  I found it relieving to sit down prior to a trip, making lists of the gear, food, and clothing I would need.  Then I could focus my mental energy on the uncontrollable factors, bad weather, conditions, or, heaven forbid, medical issues.

With the colder days settling in and the crops dormant until green up, winter is an important time to plan and make your purchases before the inevitable spring rush.  This is why Fertrell offers 50% off soil testing in September.  If you get your tests then, the fields can be accessed readily after the harvest of some crops.  Also, soil nutrients tend to be lower, so it is a preferable time to apply fertilizer. The fertilizer can then breakdown and incorporate into soil before spring.  Finally getting a plan together early enables us to handle problems that develop outside of our control.  This allows for smooth, efficient operations in spring. Then, the focus can be on planting, soil preparation, and other tasks without worrying about sourcing and transporting fertilizers.

Waiting until spring to purchase fertilizers can disrupt the planting schedule, especially if there are delays in product delivery or application. This can result in missed planting windows and stress on crops during critical early growth stages, leading to healthier crops and better yields throughout the growing season.  Regardless of purchasing a blend ideal for spring, say Blue N 5-1-1 or a fall blend such as Soil Mineralizer Plus, getting ahead of the game is the goal for ideal preparedness.  Fertrell’s dry and liquid products do not have expiration dates, so long term storage is viable for Fertrell Products. Consider giving the Agronomy team, your sales representative, or your local dealer a call this winter to assist you in your winter planning, interpreting your soil test, and getting you the product you need!
